Just seen it and while i understand changes have to be made for a film but the last quarter of the film is an absolute and disastrous departure from the book loosing all the emotional impact

Not only the title of the book is better... That movie was so WRONG with it´s ending. Shyamalan is such a moron when he believes that obeying a cruel god is the right thing. He truly raped the message of the book which is dark but beautiful. I wonder what admirers of the same movie would think if Shyamalan also changed the intruders and made them Dshihadists...?

The guy at the end believes that the four people are the horsemen of the apocolypse and thinks that maybe this is how things are done

They can't show the clip for the review - wouldn't that be fair use?

Or maybe they just wanted to respect the studio wishes? But why wouldn't the studio want the clip out? Wouldn't they be the ones providing it in the first place?

As a big fan of the novel, my biggest concern going in is that Shyamalan might be inclined to actually commit to one interpretation or another, which the novel very much avoids. I think the biggest challenge to making this adaptation well is that so much of the story takes place in the character's heads and relies on internal states and conflicts which are hard to put on screen. I'm just glad it doesn't seem to be a Happening-style fiasco.

I'm sorry to be mean but it's M Shite Blah-along. He really is a one hit wonder (Sixth Sense), everything subsequently has either been "meh" or absolute liquid shite.
