To think at one point Shyamalan was declared(by Newsweek) as the next Spielberg. Now he has to settle with being tolerably mediocre.

Unbreakable has got to be the best superhero movie I saw, though.
Because it is basically about heroism and beauty. Not costumed guys with space lasers and shit.

I loved that M. Night Shyamalan stayed true to the book this movie is based on, he did change the ending in a major way but it still felt appropriate to the story. I truly enjoyed Knock at the Cabin, and it is in major part due to the acting.

honestly.. i didn't like this one. I made an effort to go in completely blind, basically all i know is that it was a shyamalan movie.
but it just felt... pointless overall. I don't feel like the characters had any interesting arc and the flashbacks didn't really add much. I will praise bautista and the other four guys for their msterful performance but aside from that... where the movie was going was painfully obvious by the time one of the guy saw the glimmer of light and it just kept being uninteresting and somewhat pointless.

I read this novel, and it actually makes perfect sense that Shyamalan would make this movie. SPOILER ALERT Especially considering that the ending is so vague--is everyone safe or not? I don't know. The writer doesn't say.

Yeah. I prefer my suspense movies to have endings.

Well, Shyamalan should have never been anything but a hit-and-miss indie filmmaker, instead of "the next Spielberg" or "the new Hitchcock" and all that other nonsense he was hyped as around "The Sixth Sense". Good for him if he's finally found a niche and is doing alright.

You should review the Happening since that's the only bad Shymalon movie you haven't reviewed yet.
