  7. Winter Has Arrived at

Winter arrived overnight in Alaska and transformed the scenery around us into a snowy wonderland. Although we were prepared, there is always more work to be done around the cabin.

Our airtight woodstove doesn't have a window. Also our woodstove is on the back, so we have a t with a cap on the bottom, which we pull off when we have to clean it out.

Price of calendar: $20. Price of shipping (to the Netherlands): $19.25 ... I keep saying this every year: it's ridiculous.
And I ask again: just offer an electronic version (PDF) .. I'll gladly pay you guys the money and print the pages myself!

Wild Hearts in the Alaskan Wonderland"

In an Alaskan wonderland, where Eric and Ariel stand,
Their love stronger than the frozen land,
Their pups Bo and Bandit join in the grand plan.

Together they work, teach, and explore,
Respecting each other, just like before,
Their wild hearts united, forevermore,
In this magical world they truly adore.

Through the icy surface, they dig deep,
Hunting moose with courage that's steep,
In harmony with nature, they sow and reap,
Earth-loving gardeners, their promise to keep.

Breathing in crisp air, smiles shine so bright,
They find peace, tranquility, basking in the light,
Through ups and downs, their love takes flight,
Their Alaskan wonderland, a pure delight.

With joyful tears and laughter's sound,
They catch salmon from the ice hole on the frozen ground,
Through hard work and love, happiness always found,
In their Alaskan wonderland, their love profound

The box for the generator must help with the noise also.

What sort of effort would it take to instead compost all that waste wood? I figure renting and running a wood chipper would probably be a big expense. Burning just feels like a waste of resources, but I know you guys always have to weigh the cost/benefit for a project.

The grate was awesome but I think it would be wise (if you didn’t already do this) to put a couple of 2x4’s on the ends to support the grate.

I ve been burning wood in my house for 30 years, and That’s more creosote then I have ever seen in my chimney.
Dry , dry wood, is the key.
And use less wood in the stove at any one load.
Don’t stuff it and starve it.
Lastly creosote build up insulates the funnels and reduces heat transfer from the funnels.

I haven't seen one of those types of washing machines since I was a child. 😂 I got my arm caught in the wringer one time, it's a good thing my mother was there to rescue me. I was just trying to help... 😅 I feel sorry for anyone that has use one of these machines... Brings back a flood of memories... Growing up on a farm, far from neighbors... Street lights, etc ... Y'all rock!!! ❤❤❤

That's what those baffles are good for, trapping ash and creosote. And plugs the chimney up if not cleaned every year.
